About Event

Drop in for a short time or stay for a while and help us plant 500 native shrubs to enhance habitat values in the Bendigo Creek corridor within the Huntly Streamside Reserve.

All equipment provided.  Toilet available on site.  Plenty of parking available.  All holes pre-dug for easy planting.

Northern Bendigo Landcare have been restoring habitat and raising awareness of Bendigo Creek since 2010.  Other activities in the past have been revegetation with tubestock and seeding, pest plant and animal control and installation of nest boxes along with water quality monitoring. Community engagement and brochures help us to raise awareness of this often misunderstood but highly valuable corridor of public land.

Thanks to Bendigo business, Tea Associates for donating our plants via the Fifteen Trees organisation.

Gold Leaf Wetland Reserve is part of our public open space in the Huntly area; a wonderful community resource. The objective is to increase habitat and biodiversity values at Gold Leaf Wetland Reserve by planting 2,000 indigenous shrubs and lower storey seedlings. The event will be facilitated by Northern Bendigo Landcare Group (NBLG). Come celebrate, plant some seedlings and enjoy community participation on this annual National Tree Day event. The local community will better understand the environmental values of this site with opportunity for active and passive recreation. The event will be promoted through our Landcare and School network and associated organisations.
