The Plate it Up Families program helps families make informed nutritious food choices that are affordable, practical, and achievable in everyday life.
Plate it Up Families is a nutrition and food literacy program that supports families to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to make nutritious everyday food choices. Delivered in a supportive group setting at Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre, the school holiday program combines evidence-based nutrition education with practical, hands-on learning experiences.
Participants explore a range of topics, including nutritious everyday eating, meal planning, food budgeting, reading nutrition labels, and learning food safety, and basic cooking skills. Interactive activities encourage families to learn together, share ideas, and build confidence in preparing nutritious meals; concepts that can be taken into the home.
The program focuses on practical strategies that can be easily applied in everyday life, helping families make informed food choices within their budget and lifestyle. By strengthening food literacy and cooking skills, Plate it Up Families aims to support long-term positive eating habits, improve wellbeing, and increase confidence in the kitchen.
Through learning, cooking, and sharing together, families are empowered to create positive and sustainable changes that benefit the whole household.
