Stroke Foundation offers free StrokeSafe talks in Bendigo on F.A.S.T. stroke signs, prevention and calling 000 quickly.
The Stroke Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing stroke, saving lives and enhancing recovery for people affected by stroke across Australia.
Stroke remains one of Australia’s biggest health challenges, with a stroke occurring every 11 minutes and more than 440,000 Australians currently living with the effects of stroke.
Regional Australians are also 17% more likely to experience a stroke than those living in metropolitan areas, highlighting the importance of community education and awareness.
The StrokeSafe Community Engagement Program delivers free education talks to community groups, workplaces and organisations across Bendigo and surrounding areas.
Presented by trained volunteers and community speakers, StrokeSafe sessions help people recognise the F.A.S.T. signs of stroke — Face, Arms, Speech and Time — and understand why calling 000 immediately can save lives and reduce disability.
Presentations also cover stroke prevention, including blood pressure management, healthy lifestyle choices and understanding personal risk factors, with more than 80% of strokes considered preventable.
StrokeSafe talks are free for community groups, workplaces and organisations across Bendigo and surrounding areas, helping local communities gain practical knowledge that could one day save a life.
