We are a group who support the CoGB council in looking after the Riley St Natural Reserve in East Bendigo (Riley St is off Strickland Rd)
Our purpose it to help CoGB revegetate and rehabilitate the Riley St Natural Reserve in East Bendigo. Our secondary aim is to educate people about nature in the City, so that they learn to love it and save it. Some members of our group have significant knowledge in the fields of Botany, Ornithology and Geology and they are all happy to share that. Others have a very good knowledge of the history of the Reserve and the surrounding area.
We have a working bee every Tuesday at 8.30 am for 1 hour, followed by a cuppa and a chat. We also organise one-off events on weekends when working and school-aged people can join us. The working bees consist of activities such as weeding, planting, monitoring and removing tree guards. Anyone is welcome, we are a group of very varied physical abilities, just make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for work outside. A pair of gardening gloves is also useful.
To join us for one working bee, or for a lifetime, just turn up on Tuesday morning. We meet at the entrance to the Reserve at the end of Riley St, which is off Strickland Rd (northern side and close to the old East Bendigo Primary school - now the Bridgewater Bakery). There is plenty of parking.
We would love you to join us and get involved. Become part of the action! The following opportunities are currently open:
