About Us

SPAN (Suicide Prevention Awareness Network) Central Victoria is a community-led movement built on compassion, connection, and the belief that conversations can change — and save — lives.

Our Annual Walk brings people together to honour those we’ve lost, support those who are struggling, and remind each other that hope is always within reach.

Throughout the year, we continue to advocate, educate, and create safe spaces for open dialogue around suicide and mental health. At SPAN, we’re walking towards a future where no one feels alone in their pain — and where support is always close by.

We believe suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility — and that a connected, informed, and compassionate community can save lives. We aim to:

  • Reduce the stigma around suicide and mental illness
  • Create safe spaces for conversation and remembrance
  • Share lived experiences that inspire action and healing
  • Empower community through education and events
  • Connect people struggling and loved ones to support services

SPAN is run by a passionate volunteer committee and supported by a growing network of local organisations, service providers, and everyday people who believe in the power of togetherness. Our Committee meets once per month for one hour to discuss current issues, upcoming events and opportunities to reduce the impact of suicide in Central Victoria.
