Bendigo District Table Tennis Association calls players out of their garages and into its stadium

Bendigo District Table Tennis Association is well and truly punching above its weight when it comes to landing the big events, whether its local, regional, state, national or international.

The club is also an overachiever when it comes to getting out there to attract new members.

President Gary Warnest said the club had set itself a goal to boost numbers of beginner players after COVID19 last year put a dent in overall membership.

It held a Local Champion Challenge in January to get players out of the garage and onto club tables at 140 Victoria Street, Eaglehawk.

To attract young players, the BDTTA has sent letters to local schools to inform both the schools and the students of what’s on offer at its purpose built stadium.

The club is also making full use of CONNECT Greater Bendigo, posting on the Sporting Events page the dates of its C Grade and Junior Pennant Program.

Mr Warnest said table tennis was a great non contact sport available equally to males and females of all ages.

"We have great facilities here in Bendigo and we are just trying to “Connect” with the members of the local community to help them stay active and challenged," he said.

"At this time we are particularly interested in connecting with juniors or those just starting out, so if that’s YOU please get in contact to find out how we can help you get started.”
