Bendigo Amateur Radio & Electronics Club invites you to our June meeting, where Neil Patton VK3ZVX will deliver the final presentation on Operation Breakout.

Operation Breakout was a radio survey conducted by BAREC on May 24th to study the feasibility of a community-based emergency communications network in the Mt Alexander Shire.

This talk will summarize the operation's objectives, achievements and lessons learned.

It will be of interest to participants, members, community stakeholders and Amateur Radio clubs, seeking to develop emergency communication strategies for the communities of which they are part.

Highlights of the talk will include:

  • Rationale of Operation Breakout within the Community Resilience space
  • Trajectory of community and local government engagement leading up to the operation
  • Tactical challenges and approaches encountered
  • Outcomes and final report preparation
  • Presentation of the report in brief
  • Next steps
