About Us

Bendigo Field and Game was established in 1975 and is one of a network of sixty eight (68) branches across all states and territories associated with the national association, Field and Game Australia .

The purpose for which the Association was formed, is to specifically sustain, enhance and nurture responsible activities of its members and;

(a) To encourage, promote and practice the active conservation of game and habitat and;

(b) To undertake education and training of members to achieve that goal;

(c) To co-operate with government agencies and landholders in the promotion of game hunting in an orderly and accepted manner and to respect the privilege of gun ownership;

(d) To promote public understanding and acceptance of our activities and to cooperate with other bodies which may have similar objectives, and

(e) To unite field sportsmen in the respect of game and habitat; to promote good sportsmanship through supervised shooting ranges, target shooting and where appropriate to conduct local, state and national events to encourage the sport and stimulate participants to excel in their chosen pastime.

At the Bendigo branch, these objectives are embraced as follows:-

 Conservation: Projects are instigated by our branch at times in the areas of waterfowl habitat improvement, nest boxes installation programs, hunter access. We will also consider any projects that members think would be consistent with our objectives.

Hunting: Organised hunting, fox drives etc

Clay target: Our shooting ground is located at Collins Road Bagshot North. Competition shoots are conducted once a month (usually the 4th Saturday of the month) with practice and coaching available. "Come and Try" days are also held from time to time.

Brief History

Bendigo Branch has a long history with the Field and Game Association. Our inaugural meeting in February 1975 was attended by some 130 like-minder people and the Bendigo Branch of the Victorian Field and Game Association was formed. Since then the club has become an incorporated body in its own right under the auspices of Field and Game Australia.

Membership

At present we have just under 500 members who have joined for various reasons, whether it is to be a member of a like-minded hunting group, to be involved in conservation activities, to shoot clays targets or a combination of these. Membership fees are paid to our parent body F&GA  with the branch receiving a distribution. Current fees as at 28th February 2021 are $130 per annum for adults with concessions available for pensioners, family members, juniors and students.
