NEXUS Bendigo Youth Theatre

Nexus BYT is an innovative, vibrant and socially inclusive community theatre group that connects young people (Years 7-12) from various backgrounds, lifestyles, abilities and ages who are passionate about the Performing Arts in the Bendigo Region. It is a safe environment that demonstrates the value of working together towards a sense of connectedness and belonging, teaching healthy life and social skills, and building a creative community of between 150-175 cast and volunteers (ages 10-70+) through the Arts.

At Nexus, we believe that young people need a vibrant and safe place to discover themselves and their potential. As a result, Nexus provides for the wellness and whole-being of each student and their family. Nexus fosters and encourages a strong community spirit through The Arts, which is an incredible way to facilitate the journey young people must go through as they prepare to become active, creative and confident members in the wider community.

Established in 2010, Nexus is a community aimed at social inclusion and well-being of young people. It connects youth from secondary schools in the Greater Bendigo area no matter their background, lifestyle, socioeconomic status or physical/mental health capabilities.

Students are encouraged to be engaged, where they can discover and develop their passions and skills in theatre, design and leadership. Through the use of the theatre, we aim to nurture self-esteem, confidence, friendship, and life skills for teens who are often desperately in need of connections.

Nexus builds up community and meets the needs of students, families and volunteers, creating an environment where everyone can belong. Our current community is 100+, and hundreds more would call themselves ‘Nexonians’. There is a Committee of Management and Production Team, who direct the various elements of this amazing programs.
