An event is any organised activity held on public land where an open area, facility, venue, road or temporary structure is to be used by more people than are usually found in that location. Major events require a minimum of 500 forecast participants and attract a large percentage of participants from outside the region. Major events have state-wide, national and/or some international profile and significant marketing and media coverage. Major events provide a high level of economic, social and cultural benefits to the region.
